We will look at:
The 'characteristics' of autism and how they often relate to challenging behaviours
Breaking down the elements of a behaviour to see why it is occurring
Meltdown vs tantrums
Proactive strategies to prevent the behaviour from occurring
Using visual supports to facilitate understanding
Explicitly teaching new skills and coping strategies that replace inappropriate behaviours
How to provide positive reinforcement and plan for success
